24 years and counting...

Today is national coming out day. 24 years ago at the age of 18 I remember this day coming onto my radar screen for the first time. It has been quite a journey to my publicly recognizing it for the first time.

But today, I do that.

This is the t-shirt I wear today. It is a statement about my view of the world.

My journey to be openly supportive of this statement has been long. With my first exposure to this day, I remember being curious. I also remember wanting to be an ally. The journey very early took a u-turn so that I could remain aligned with the faith I thought my tradition had taught me. It took me a long time to unpack what I had been taught about God so that what I had come to know of God through scripture, reason, tradition, and tradition illuminates my world-view. Today my relationship with God is the lens through which I examine social issues. That includes issues surrounding the lives of LGBTQIA persons.

River View Center is a place where persons can find an ally. Today, if your are struggling, know that there are people in the world who support you and believe that tour relationship and family are real. If They matter. They are important. If you are in a season of desiring a relationship and family...your desire is true and authentic

Sending light, love, grace, and strength to a who may be struggling this day. If you need a listening ear, you can message me through the River View Center Facebook page.
